A Way of Escape

An escape room is a game that is played in which a team of players work together with different clues and puzzles that are given to them to accomplish tasks in one or more rooms. In order to progress to the next room, they with a specific goal and a limited amount of time must solve the mystery in order to successfully move on. Different obstacles, traps and other items are placed in the way of the team, and some are tempted to take the bait. The only way out is through the door that is provided to them.

In 1 Cor. 10:13 it reads: “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”

Temptations are a promise, and every living, breathing Christian will come face to face with it. But trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Not Everyone is with you!

Some people love to be surrounded by others because it gives them a false sense of safety and security. When they are in large crowds, they feel important and fearless. But large crowds can bring forth a lot of heartburn as well. Some times the larger the crowd the more hazardous it can become. Even the small movements of so many people can quickly turn into a destructive force. Today’s message is a lesson to all who boast their strength in large numbers, but will soon realize that everyone who is with you are not really with you.

Gideon had a mighty army that boasted a number of over 32,000 men. When you look upon something that size coming at you, you would think “man they are large,” and most would probably run away out of fear. But again, large numbers do not mean a thing if everyone is not on the same page.

"Who is the one who conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?" - 1 John 5:5 CSB.

In the Christian race we will face obstacles, we will have pitfalls and traps set before us. There will be detours along the way that will leave you feeling stalled and slowed down. But it’s a true test of how you finish the race.

Our lives as a Christian runner for Jesus Christ should be one that is steadfast and unmovable. We must come out full speed ahead, attacking each and every obstacle that stands in front of us. Sure, there will be days in which we do not think that we will make it. There will be times where we will become so overwhelmed that we want to quit. But deep down inside each of us lies God’s own Holy Spirit who equips and empowers you to finish the race the same way you started it. Strong. So, press on for the mark of the prize for the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Grace

"The grace of our Lord [His amazing, unmerited favor and blessing] flowed out in superabundance [for me, together] with the faith and love which are [realized] in Christ Jesus." (1 Tim. 1:14 AMP).

The Baker Encyclopedia of the Bible says that grace is the dimension of divine activity that enables God to confront human indifference and rebellion with an inexhaustible capacity to forgive and to bless. That means that He will not stop blessing us. God is gracious in action.

If it is free then its not earned, and if it is earned then it is not free. The only thing left for us to do is to receive it. Grace has a name and it is Jesus Christ.

Whenever the citizens of Gotham City got into trouble, they called on the one man that could save from distress. When some strong super villain came into the city and things got out of control, commissioner Gordon did the one thing that always brought them security, he would call upon the savior of the city by putting out the bat signal.

“There was a man from the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to him at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God, for no one could perform these signs you do unless God were with him.” (John 3:1-2 CSB).

When the Spirit of God touches our lives, things are forever changed and we never look at them the same way we use to. Nicodemus was a Jewish Rabbi and a member of the Sanhedrin, and he was one of the richest men in Jerusalem. He was a master of Israel and he held one of the highest official positions that one could hold. He was a wise man that knew many things. He was smart, intelligent and well read, and he knew the answers to a lot of things. But there was one thing that he could not answer and it had him puzzled.

Who do you say that I am?

“Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, “Who do people say I am?” (Mark 8:27 NIV).

Who are you? How do you want others to view you? It can be very hard not to worry what other people think about you. We all want to be liked and approved of, smiled at and congratulated on an accomplishment. That’s just the basic part of human reasoning and understanding. Jesus Christ asked the questions of His disciples upon them leaving Bethsaida while headed to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. But His question was nothing like the way that ours would be. He wasn’t asking it to see if He was being approved of or applauded no He asked the key question of life as it determines a man’s eternal fate.

Compassion

“But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd” (Matt. 9:36 KJV).

“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breath free; the wretched refuse of your teeming shore; send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door.” These are the words that are inscribed on the Statue of Liberty in New York City. Dedicated on Oct 28, 1886, the statue was one that called out to people all over the world, all nations no matter who they are and where they would come from, were welcomed to come to America. This meant that all people from all walks of life that wanted a better life, a free life, one that took them away from the oppression of their former countries, could come in with the promise of life, liberty and justice. The Statue of Liberty stands as a symbol universal freedom. Freedom to all, not some!

I Shall Not Want

“The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want!” (Psalm 23:1 KJV).

To want means to have a desire to possess or to wish for something. I have a desire for something special at dinner, and I wish, crave or demand to have it. A want is a good or service that is not necessary for survival but we have a desire. To need means that that good or service is required. We all want more than what we have, and the desire for it gets so strong that we miss out on what we already have. In my mind if someone gives me a dollar, it’s not enough because I want two. We think that if we lived in a better neighborhood or received that promotion on the job that our lives would somehow be better. But if I keep the same mindset, nothing has changed and I want more.
